The biggest difference between the two is that Notepadqq is a native Linux app built using Qt technology. In short, Notepadqq is the Notepad++ alternative for Linux. The other option, and an arguably better one, is to install Notepadqq. The scaling is off, the native look and feel (while running on Linux) is pretty much inexistent. While it works, it's not a perfect solution. However, on Linux, Notepad++ runs on top of Wine. So, what if you want the same experience on Linux? Well, you could very well install Notepad++ on most Linux distributions. It's very powerful, it's extendable via plugins, it's extremely lightweight, and it has support for a plethora of programming languages. Notepad++ is one of the most popular Windows apps, especially in the programming community.
